Here’s a passage, from a talk by John Gottman, the couples therapist, talking about communication skills:
In Kentucky, if you end your statement with “bless her heart,” you can get away with saying anything.
For example, if you say: “You know, Miss Sanders really walks around like a slut with that clothing she wears, bless her heart.”
